Therapeutic Touch
At My Silver Tree, Therapeutic Touch is offered as a gentle, evidence-informed energy practice designed to promote relaxation, comfort, and emotional balance for older adults in the peace of their own homes. Developed in 1972 by Dr. Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., RN, and healer Dora Kunz, this holistic method has been widely practiced by nurses, hospice professionals, and healthcare providers around the world. It is recognized in many university nursing programs and used in hospitals, hospices, and long-term care facilities as a complementary approach to conventional medical care.
Therapeutic Touch works by gently balancing the body’s energy field to support natural healing and restore harmony. During a session, the practitioner uses light or near-touch hand movements above the skin to assess and rebalance energy flow, helping ease pain, tension, and anxiety. Sessions typically last between 15 and 30 minutes, with the client fully clothed, sitting or lying comfortably.
This compassionate approach can assist with recovery from surgery or illness and help relieve the discomfort of conditions such as migraines, arthritis, fatigue, or chronic stress.
